hey all,

i have been doing more and more box modeling lately - albeit very basic. i am wondering how most people go about making a human form or a car. i assume you only work on one side and then mirror it. what happens if you need to change only the left arm? is that where you need to make it into one mesh and say goodbye to your mirror?

also - one of the things that bugs me is having an object that is not at (0,0,0) and when you place the object under a mirror (created at 0,0,0), you can't see the other side. what do people do about things like this? is there a plugin which solves this annoying extra work of repositioning the mirror?

thanks

Usually make a box, delete half and put into a Symmetry object. As far as I know, to make one side different you have to make the symmetry object editable then you can make your changes, but you lose the symmetry.

Make sure you do all that you can possibly to with symmetry before you make those changes.

You can always duplicate your model and set invisible if you feel you may want to make changes later.

I always have a spare lying around in my scenes
