the two images are different ,i was on the first going
for extreme simple curves usage..smooth as a theme i guess.

war garden is a work in progress...bone white texture i have not tried yet ,i need white bright /super bright on one version
actual bone/aged on one and third will be a unexplored texture
theme.

I have take a look at your pics and they are impressing. The first one convinces because it's clear and simple, while the second one is very impressing because of its complexity. Keep up the good work.

Tim

there is some unusual stuff in there amongst the links.

anymore info on how you went about creating some of em..what software did you use..are they all 3d...what plugs..etc...would like to hear a little about your setup...lighting and materials...etc.

okay
as for textures.i actually worked on just the 3dmax textures as
a singular sole project -my current matlib file is 85 megs
that is not including max- library textures..i save every version
of every material tweak. this gives me a really good pallete
to work from..i did this because i realized i was limited by
the basic matlib...
i have brazil only type textures.vray and normal stuff .
i spent a solid month just on textures.! that i might need
i use 98 percent rhino3d nurbs modeling.
i just use max for rendering with lightmesh/hdri
lighting some of the time and if my surface is blue/black/silver i try to use a glancing
light near the surfaces in as close to the surface color as possibleand and/or/use projection mapping.
most of the technique in rhino to use is to select a row of points - like along a cylinder and bend or flow along a curvey curve...thus warpage.. this is a simplistic explanation but illustrates the basics..
moreso- i take a much more complex geometry model of some and use the same thing , but maybe the curve is 3d
and there will be maybe 15-50 subset curves i use ..
Of course i final tweak some stuff in photoshop but usually
just saturation of colors and sharpen...
some of the work like WARGARDEN is layered in PS .
I quickly guesstimate it would take 20 gigs minimum to render..
plugins ..no plugins in rhino that i use other than export
and layer manager
max plugin - vray and brazil but vray is much faster
here is a 20 minute i just did basic tutor pic..

thanks for the background info...always curious as to how others work...always good to exchange ideas...builds a great creative process...and always helps show how much effort goes into this kind of imagery for the doubters among us..cheers.
