Ok I gotta ask, how the hell did you do such intricate wire work, script, plugin or did you just plain model them seperately? Nice composition, love the first pic the best. What Prog?

hi bt3d,
that is some really nice work. good idea and very well realised. are those all splines ? i guess the polycount is crazy isn`t it ?
i checked the images at your page. the one with the rust is the best imo. you should post this one instead pic 3.
good job -

Come on, fess up - how do you do it?
I've just been looking round your site (I've checked out your microscopy images a while ago, and thought they were VERY good), and was most impressed by your "wire" images.
Please give us an idea as to how they were built.
Mark.

Sehr schöne Arbeit!!
Du kommst aus Wuppertal? Wir sind beinahe Nachbarn
Ich habe Deine Seite gespeichert, klasse Arbeiten..!
Kompliment!
Great work, very clean, and very well focused.
Despite the complexity of the wire job, the pieces are overall quite simple but yet quite powerfull!
Amazing job!

Very Very nice images
smooth and sweet images ..keep it up..do some more !!
I also saw you web pages too.!
and i also am sticking to a back to basic form/ foundation
in exercise of modeling and exploration of formz.
also i guess i figured out how to do yours wires but i no tell..
its for you to say ..
suggestion of one- to see on web rope artists/knots/fabrics
many inspirations for your work maybe...
Wow, first of all many thanks for the positive feedback.
Here is a short description about the work(flow) and some wires of the wires. The images are done with realsoft 3d using the 'raytracing nurbs curves' feature of the next version (and postedit in photoshop) . So these objects are build from curves only and there is no 'really' surface (it's rendered at rendertime only).
I don't use any scripts or plugins until now. They are more or less hand modeled. I often strated from some curves, build a nurbs surface, deform it and convert it back to curves and so on. As I described on the side it's like abstract painting in space for me. Only the fabric like stuff is build up with some displacement mapping procedure (I was to lazy to weave it from hand). The shader is a mixture of procedural stuff and mapping using the UV space of the curves. I hope I find enough time to enhance it a little bit more.

This is fantastic work!
I'm going to try to do this in Maya.
edit........Hope you don't mind the traffic...I posted your website (abstract page) over at http://www.newstoday.com in the 'public broadcast' collumn. Then the creators of the site reposted your site in the 'newstoday broadcast' collumn...where it says "wow...thanks jamesh".
They are impressed. good work.

GENIUS!!!!
i have this candle holder that looks EXACTLY like the first image. except for the "unravelling into space" part.
it would be kind of cool if you added point light/flame/smoke effects in the center of some of these "wire meshes", with the wire actually covering the light/flame. it could make for some really nice lighting effects. or not.

These are beautiful, and I wouldn't be surprised to see printouts of the whole series hanging on a wall of an art gallery.
Strangely emotional, yet sparse.
I love it.

Hi there Tim!
Terrific work again! I'm very impressed. Even more compared to the microscope-shader images you did some months ago. I almost wonder if you sold your soul to the devil in order to be able to put forth such great art ;-)
I hope for you that those images will cover the package and manual of Realsoft3D V5 and some pages of Exposé 2... or maybe even it's cover. It would be well deserved!
Best regards...

Hi Tim..
It certainly gives an awesome feeling to see your work..
and that its not like too many others that just do Tits, other characters and Cars..
Nice to see just very cool images and just enjoy them, without having ppl saying, that dont look "realistic" or "Natural" and whatever =)
It makes one feel free to just love them and look at them with Admiring eyes..
Again..
Awesome work there Tim..
Thx for sharing....Keep them coming..
Good Luck with this prj, other prjs and Life in general..
Cant wait to get my hands on V5 too.. =)
Hi all,
thanks for the great feedback.
Jamesh , thanks for the link, great to hear they like them.
darkefire, that's an interesting point. Maybe I should do some tests of alternative lightning.
One goal of this series are highres prints (up to 1 meter or more). And while working further on the series I do some prize research about printing in such size on good paper and quality (7 color, UV resistant and so on). I hope I will find a good solution, most of them are already rendered in highresolution and more or less ready to print.

Tim

Hi,
thanks all for the nice feedback. I was a little bit busy the last days so I find less time to work on the series. But now I've added some new ones: www.bt-3d.de/div/abstract0104 (http://www.bt-3d.de/div/abstract0104)

wow... really spectacular Tim... I browsed these images a while ago and was very impressed and now just looking thru some older posts I flipped through again to find this new last image , very glad I did... its a fantastic contrast of forms and textures one of my favourites of all your images I think, are u using the new hdri plug to render with HDRI lighting effects, It dosnt quite look like you are, I think that could really add an extra little 'kick' to the lighting on the wires I think.
inspirational works

Great technic work. :applause:
Won't you transform some ending parts of your metallic structures in plants or organic ? Just to make a strange metamorphic being .... It is just an idea like this.

I find them VERY interesting. Fist time I see wire done like this. Kewl!
Thanks again for your comments. I've worked further on the series. Additional to the pure wire shapes I've tested some 'fluid' forms and shapes. More are under www.bt-3d.de/div/abstract0104 (http://www.bt-3d.de/div/abstract0104)
