InTheCity 02-17-2004, 07:23 AM Crits welcome.
8 minute render here. DOF took a while to get the right kind of blur on the motherships luminance map.
Crits welcome.

what is that? (second pic)
What is that great! (first pic)
One the second one I really canīt recognize whatīs going on, but it looks cool. Has something of that "trendwhore"-stylism;) (read that what you posted in the other thread, hehe)
The first one has really nice light-effects and good DOF, nice one!

I think these would both benefit from some movement, while the renders are nice and I like the colour scheme, I'm having a problem seeing what exactly is going on in the second one, it's difficult to see where the ship ends and the "dock" begins
the first one's engines have a squashy organic look to them, look like they were grown rather than constructed, maybe add some extra detailing to them to give a more manufactured appearance.

Like the i-donīt-really-understand-whatīs-going-on-look! Very nice.
But the DOF in the first pic kind of give it a little miniature look, donīt you think? Looks like some nanobot or something. Or was that the intention?

would go with crits already made really...top image would benefit from movement look to it...or heat haze//dust kick up..dunno something to con the eye...i quite like the dof but it does give the effect of the drop ship being dropped on top if you get me meaning (someone mentioned scale)..so essentially the background image which is cool btw..kind masks/merges with the ship...maybe background would benefit from a slight colour change(maybe put in a filter if image/light if not) that way the ship is clearly defined but not looking like a layer....dunno its a tricky one to solve though...good luck with it....reading back my crit it sounds like it contradicts itself but hopefully you'll get what i mean.
I agree with mt_sabao, the first image looks like a scale model. But a very nice scale model, so if that was the intention it is great!
If it is not supposed to be a scale model, I guess you need to reduce the DOF quite a bit..

It's supposed to be dramatically smaller than the Mothership.
