Hello to everyone at CGTalk !!

I am new member here, but I have been monitoring the site for about a year now. This image was part of a short animation I did in my BA course.... Basically is something totally different from what I am used to see in these pages, but I thought it might be interesting to hear some opinions.

Anyway this began as a simple sketch I made in Photoshop by observing some of the ancient Greek wall sculptures.
(P.S: The theme was about the Trojan Horse)

I wanted to make a texture on a wall of Troy that would look as if it could exist today.....

I also wanted to show that the sculpture on the wall was painted over with gold that faded through the centuries.....
Surprisingly enough I used the image on a simple plane with loads of subdivisions to help the displacement map come out nicely!!!! :)

After loads of hours creating wall textures, bump maps & displacement maps (I think there were 8 or 9 of them) and after 1.30 hours of rendering with 3DSMAX 5.0 Scanline Renderer this image.... I got what you see today.

I hope you like it. Comments and critiques are most welcomed.

Thanks

P.S : For some bizzare reason the maximum size of the image has to be 20000 bytes !?!?!?! It's really small you can't really see the detail :(. I have to see this tomorrow.. Going to bed now.
