RuiFeliciano 02-16-2004, 11:09 AM Although this is old news I just found out about it and thought I would let people that let this slip like me find out about it.

I listened to it, but there was quite a big bias on the Maxxon review, both postitive and negative, especially when the .mp3s blatantly state that they are being partially funded by Maxxon.
About the Lightwave stuff, he talked about pretty much what everyone knows, but didn't provide much juice about the Lux situation etc.

Why in the heck would you do this as audio files and waste all that bandwidth? Let alone the fact that I would have read the article but i'm NOT going to download some audio, too much of a pain to listen to it, especially at work.

You're not hardcore! We're hardcore!
(seriously, agreed, it is a bit odd, but I actually managed to carry on working while listening. It would have hurt my eyes to do the same while reading).

"Lighwave 3d (Formerly only available on the Amiga with the Video Toaster, a $3,000 dongle)"
Huh? WTF is that? How old is that information? I mean when did LW make a break from the Video Toaster and start on the PC as a stand along product? More than 5-6 years ago???
Statements like this are misleading and damaging.
I'm steamed.

umm...he said that LW started out as an add on to the Video Toaster on the Amiga, and then was ported to the PC as of version 4...and that NewTek introduced the desktop 3D revolution because of LightWave being ported to the PC.
Did you guys really listen to the audio file?
Play the audio file again...and listen. ;)

bleh! Not only is that boring it's also monotonous and unctious.
I guess this guy likes the sound of his own voice?
Thank god the world wide web is primarily text based and not more of this crapola.

:surprised
Well at least all 6 of us in here were able to listen to it while working, could we had done the same if we all had to read it? I dont think so hehehe.

I like audio commentaries. I can airbrush while I listen. I wish more articles were done this way.

I took exception to the headline, not the audio file (which I did listen to, both of them).
The thing that's misleading is when Lightwave was bundled with the Video Toaster, people were not looking for Lightwave, but the Video Toaster. Making it sound like the Video Toaster was just a "$3000 dongle" for Lightwave is just a bit misleading, don't you think?

The speaker wastes most of the time talking about the history of each company. He could have answered the questions "what they do and wrong" with three bullet points under each question which would taken us a moment to read.
