I havn't posted very much of my work here before, but I like checking out the work you guys post here, so I thought it'd be nice to start doing the same.

I spent some time this weekend making a model of my favorite pair of shoes. Actually it wasn't only for fun, even though I had a pretty great time making them, I made them for a character I've been working on. But that's another story.

Everything done in Lightwave, except textures that I painted in Photoshop. And the background is just a photo of my hallway in my apartment I took earlier tonight and composited the shoes against so the scene doesn't look so empty.

Let me know what you think.

Very nice but the inside of the shoe, should be more leathery or even a felt texture. that looks like brass right now.

will take someone a long time to break those shoes.

Very nice render, and I like the texture on the shoes, except right now, it doesn't look leathery enough. Looks a little bit on the "plasticy" side.

You should post more often!

Is the thread modelled? Or did you do that with textures? Lookin' good!

pblacklock: you're right, there isn't much leathery feeling on the inside.. I've actually done some leather texturing there as well, but I guess I was a little bit to trigger happy with the corona and dof so it doesn't show up very well. Anyway, the inside is just seen in this image, when I put some legs down the shoes the inside won't be seen anyway.

milqman: thanks. They could be a little bit to spectacular maybe. Might try to tweak that a little bit more next time I do a render with 'em.

Mechis: The thread is a couple of layers of diffrent UV maps.

I think it's great. I like that the stitching isn't perfect. Really nice shot.

Hey thanks for your nice replies. :)

Nemoid: I'm going for somewhat quite realistic look anyway. Unfortunately I don't have as much time as I want to, to make personal projects right now. But I will make the rest of his clothes next weekend. So we'll see how it turns out then. The character behind the clothes, is quite special in appearance, and I won't put him online until I've done his texturing, which makes or break him, but it's fun to make something unusual. It's an experiment so I'll see if it turns out okay or'll look totally absurd.

LittleFenris: haha, there's plenty more of those in the sea of docs.

Zarathustra: Yes, it's quite fun with the stitching. I orginally intended to make them follow the curve of the shoe correctly. And after I had painted the stitch texture I noticed I hadn't edited my UV map good enough so there was some stretching. So I went back and edited out the last stretching to make it follow the curve correctly. But then I thought it actually looked better when it wasn't perfect, so I went back and stretched out the UV map again. Who said LW's subdiv uv stretching was a problem when it can be quite handy.
