hi there,

I'd like to make a glass bottle with some liquid inside but I encountered this problem and I can't figure out what's wrong

the pic speaks for itself ... (3ds max 6 + fR stage 1)

I dunno why it gets dark when I put it inside the bottle. I've tried changing the priority thing, played with the reflection and refraction settings, tried other shadow types but it's still dark ...

so if anyone knows what's wrong, I'd appreciate some help ...

thanks

my first guess is the amount of reflection/refraction bounces.
Increase it and see what happens?

I assume your bottle has a wallthickness, and you detached some faces of the inner wall, to create the liquid.
Raytracers in common, don't like faces in exactly the same place, especially when they are refractive! The engine does not know which face is hitted first by the rays, and which is second.
To get a good result, I strongly recommend to look up the proirity feature for refractions in the fR manual!

EDIT: after I read your post a second time, I got that you already deal with Priority :)
