Hi everybody, Here's a link to a page containing one of my most recent works.. all will be explained there so I beg your pardon if I do not post directly here (thanks for your patience!)

www.dhpdesign.com :: dream Horse :: (http://www.dhpdesign.com/test/ren/cavallo/cavallo.htm)

I'm looking for some crits and comments about it, because, soon, I'll rig it and trying to move it in a more natural pose.

I will not animate it (unless it could be a further step)
because my goal is to do two things:

first: reproduce the initial sketch to reprint it in a larger dimension
second: set up an environment and take some shots.

So everything you can say about it will be OK.
Texturing, modelling, suggestions for the environment, your impression about the feelings...

In the meanwhile I'll work on the details using Weight maps..

thanks in advance!

I love the concept and the model but IMO the texture could use some work. That primary yellow just grates on my nerves. I'm not sure what kind of feeling you're trying to create, but the colors you use for the textures (and later, the lighting), will be the main things that define it. Like if you were going for a gentle kind of dream, blues and puples and maybe soft gold. What you've got right now makes me think of neon lights and carnival rides, but even if that's what you're going for, you may want to dim down the yellow so it doesn't overwhelm the model.

Hi Pyraxis! thank you very much for your comment and critics: very well explained:

I generally agree with you: I have to dim down the yellow
and make it gold like (using reflections and some metal like texture features and surely reduce diffuseness) even if I do not want to render it as a statue of metal.. I'll work around a bit.

then I'll reduce the luminosity and the tone of the colors of the "horns". stay tuned I'll show you something soon.

glad you like the concept!

OMG...it's marvellous...

Eheheh DHP, the think that comes to my mind is that there is a lot of weight in the head...poor horse...

Anyway...very good work!!!

Hi DavHub

Congratulations on a crazy horse image. I adore the horn, and think you should make the whole thing in colored glass.

The only thing that suffers is the horses mouth. I think it would help the horse a lot if you made the chin smaller and let the lip hang down a bit, as in the image I retouched.

Looking forward to seeing more of this horse.

Hi guys! thank you very much for your comments!

Liquidik: The Horns are not physical they're not bones
like mooses or made of flesh: they are "clouds" of something
from the dream world!

Infact there's a lot of transparency in them even if in the
renders you cant' guess it :)

staffanlincoln: I'm astonished! Thank you very much for
the time you took modifying the shot!
Very interesting result! I'll keep it in mind!

And.. actually I'm working on it again!
stay tuned! :)

I like it, very abstract.
A few things though - the brown of the horse grates too much with the bright colours of the horn. I would go for a lighter shade - something in the realm of white with a yellow tinge, a strong creme or the likes.
Another thing is that the horn doesn't really look like it's attached to the horse - it just lokos like it's floating on. I know it ;s attached in the model, but the flow between horn and head doesn't go well. I would also try "leaking" the colour of the horn into the mane of the horse, to help the flow of the model.
That's all, good job overall. Just a few little niggles ^_^

Hi to all Thanking you again for your attention I
modified something expecially with the head portion
as you suggested to me.

Hi again to you all, I returned to this trying to build a nice envoronment for it.

The first is the overall landscape in a truly early version
(now it's quite differnt and more complex :) )

http://www.webalice.it/davhub/CGTalk/cavallo/shadenviro.jpg

I tried to give it a rain forest mood in moonlight.
This is what lightwave give me without any post process
(anyway for the final render I'm planning to use a lot of it)

and finally a close shot

Hope you like it, anyway crits, comments questions and the like are more then welcome!

thank you in advance!
