Hi primativ, I use the wacom tablet only to texturize my 3D models and not so often, but, in general about your work:

assuming that you are in the middle level between photograph and painting...

1) The eyes are of the same color of the floor and seem holes
(expecially the left one (considering the point of view of the dog itself), try to darken them

2) I like the nose and the portion of the head between the eyes

3) You used, naturally, the blur to simulate DOF. But there are too strong shadows and contours around the front legs

4) the tail is without shadow at all ad seem to be attached there
somewhere. try to fix it

5) the ears seem a little too large to me... mmm but surely you work around with snapshot so it could be right, but the inner
part of them need, IMO, a little more work: first try to darken
more the inner part in order to achieve deepness, then, try to avoid the blurring shadows arond them: they are not resting on the ground, I suppose.

6) again with the mouth.. the upper part of the jaws usually covers more the lower part that soon disappeared under them.

I like the fur effect, and the shininess of it.

hope this helps you

I applied a lot of what you said davhub I think except for making the ears and the lips smaller, because that is actually how the dog looks.
