View Full Version : Environment: Blood Vessel
briancole 02-12-2004, 10:04 PM I'm working in Max 5.1 on a quick and short piece for a demo reel.
It's just a simple animation going through a blood vessel - I would love for it to look like something you'd see on the discovery channel.
Any and all crits are welcome..
-material help
-camera movement
-cell animation
-especially this: overall look and feel
thanks!

Wow that's.. really fast. Too fast I think. It may be a realistic speed or something, but a much slower pacing is what I desire. If the speed came in bursts that would feel like the heart pumping that might be good.
I think the walls of the veins is too.. too computerized irregular. Like a cylinder with displacement or a noise modifier or somesuch. Add geometry to break things up, I imagine lots of small nooks and stuff should take place.
Not that fond of the textures, it has an odd sharpness to them, like they're just a red/white noise or marble material or something. Play with a more layered look, a more.. softer look (just imo of course). Maybe add a selfilluminated feel because everything is on such a tiny scale that light penetrates from the outside world?
Apart from the red bloodcells there's not a lot of other things going on. The feeling of being submerged in liquid is not really there. Would there be tiny particles present? White bloodcells perhaps, or, whatever you can come up with to add small details. And a sprinkle of fog might do as well to indicate this isn't air.

Hi bigfatclown..
I suggest you to use a fog to simulate the darkness of the vein
increasing with camera distance..
and.. vein?? is it a vein or an artery? If it's the first.. need to be darker..
I agree about the little particles...
the cells has, IMO, the borders (and not only them) lighter, and more translucent.
try to add transparency (outside) this could fix this.
Hope this helps
