View Full Version : First Maya head
Shirley 02-12-2004, 04:32 AM After playing a bit with Maya, I decided to start directly to work on my first complex model. I use Polygon proxymode, with CPS and MJpolytools. All these tools are great :)
The goal of the exercise is to create a face without any photo reference.
Now I arrive at a point I would love to recieve comments to make the character better (for the moment, just the face, I didn't designed the clothes yet.)
Also he'll have long white hair.

thanks for helping and comments :)

it looks ok for a first try.
But why making it without refs?? It would be much easier and the result would be much better if you did.

The reason is not my initial decision.
In fact my Geforce just died, so I had to put my old TNT2 on the motherboard again. And it doesn't like AT ALL background pictures :)
As I'm kinda broken, I have to work that way for the moment :)

Not bad, especially for not using refs. But hard to crit from just one angle/no wires.
From here it looks like his eyes are a little bit too big, and the area between his nose and chin is too flat.
Certainly is a nice eye shader in him. (-:

Then it's a pretty good head, some other comments.
The nose is very weird, try to look at some pictures, the bottom of the nose isn't flat at all, and it looks a bit too much like a reversed T, if you know what i mean.
Could you post a wireframe please?

A definate improvement. There's still something odd about it, but I can't quite put my finger on it...

I think the zone beetween ears and eyes on X axis is far too large. The skull is too large on this part. Also there's a problem with the back neck, but I was too lazy yet to move those two vertices :)
Any other comments would be very precious, and don't hesitate to ask for particular wire closeup if it can helps
Thanks a lot
