So here we go:
I'm trying to rig this model of a dachshund made into subdivision surfaces in Maya. I'm not experienced with rigging at all, let alone for a quad. Advice would be appreciated.

Here is my layout for skeletal structure.

Partially implemented in Maya:

Test rig results in this behavior:

My question is now, before I go any farther, is this normal? Like I said, I'm not experienced with rigging and I need to do this properly the first time around. So, do I need to go back and revise the model or skeleton or can this be fixed with weights, etc. that I haven't gone into yet?

Thanks,
Audrey

]looks like weighting issues.. u wont get perfect deformation just after u have apllied ur bones to ur mesh.. usulally skinning is a big part of rigging.. what i call the 'second' half !..

weights and blendshapes and deformers etc..
