View Full Version : Hard to find decent PS7 tutorial on a specific thing...

I scanned these black&white film negatives (and prints). I want to colourize certain parts of them (ex. the drink in a cup). I can't find a decent tutorial on the web for this. I found a couple, but they are very vague (they assume advanced knowledge of PS7 already). Another I found just didn't seem to work (I went through it twice).

Any suggestions or links?

Hi Turbonium ,

Maybe you can't find them because there is no much reason to write them :)

For that you just need to paint, you could either paint in a new layer and play with the transfer modes of the layer, or paint directly in the image with a determinated transfer mode.
Using Overlay is a good start, but in some situations or parts of your image, other transfer modes might give you a better result, so play with them.

I personaly rather paint in a new transparent layer and set the transfer mode of this layer insted of painting directly in the image, which could lead you to start everything from scratch at some point. And using layers you can them apply masks or use the eraser tool to refine your result.

I hope this gives you some directions to follow.

Good luck,
dg
