View Full Version : texture: bobo's brunt model
davemcd 02-11-2004, 09:02 AM Hey All
I've been texturing bobo's brunt model over at polycount >>link<< (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~polycount/ubb/Forum2/HTML/008216.html)
Anyhow i'm pretty much finished (i think) but was looking for some crits and comments before the deadline hits...
btw i painted at 512 as i was pretty much just doing ti for my own practise to begin with (though final will be 256)

hey very nice job there :)
my only crits would be that the white "armor bits" on his arms are a little too white...they seem a bit over saturated. at least fop that steam-punk-ish look imho.
also the chunks out of his yellow paint seem a little "stuck on" maybe a little rust running down....
and the hands look a bit plain compared to the rest of the body.
but these are small things because i thinks its a very good job
and i love the face :)
yeah, hands are lost among the background... not enough detail added.
I would fix the chips and marks on the armor. It looks like a brush just painted them on, as appose to depth and variation. The white one is my favorite, i think the orange one needs more contrast. Well, even the white could use a little more contrast.
It's an easy fix though.
The paint chip in the middle of the foot seems too 'positioned' and not random enough. It's also a really dominant eye attractor, and the you can tell the texture is identical on both sides. I think if you varied it more, or brought it closer to the armor edge, then the texture mirroring will look more natural.
I like the rest though, nice to see an 'old man' Quake model.

Cheers All,
I definitely agree about the hands... they were such a hassle to texture cos of the UV's on them that i think i just decided to ignore them a little... I think what i'll end up doing is painitng on some armoured sections to break up the glove a little and make it match the body more.
Also the chip on the inner foot bugs me as well and i think i'll remove it, thanks all for pointing it out.
I'll try and get to it soon... though i really should be back doing some real work, good thing i'm my own boss or i'd have to kick my ass :)
