View Full Version : how do I make a whole chicken leg from pieces?
erwin1978 06-29-2002, 03:26 PM I made a nurbs bird's foot and I intersected the toes with the main leg. I then trimmed them. How do I merge all the pieces so it's one whole leg? How do I make the transition between the leg and toes more smoothly instead of that abrupt edge where the leg and toes meet?

you dont! when you trim an object the actuall part that you got trimmed away is just hidden,.
so you cant make it a whole shape,
try to avoid trimms,
try to Patch it toghether instead, i suck at patch modeling and i will go thrue it once more to get me updated in that area,.
Learn how to model with patches! it pays off trust me,!

graphiouz is absoltely right. try to avoid trims. at least rebuild trimmed surfaces to non trimmed. there is an option in rebuild surfaces to convert trimmed surfaces. it actually doesn't work all the time, but it can give a good start. i know nurbs modelling may be a pain in the ass for most of the people here, but i still like it the most. patch modelling too. but without patch modelling you will soon come to the edge where you don't get further.
i saw a car modelling tut a few weeks ago. it was quit good. especially for beginners with nurbs patches it's the best i've ever seen. you can learn a lot ffrom it about the tools and methods used.
