View Full Version : 3dsmax 5 & 6 at the same time ?
Grezdog 02-10-2004, 02:24 PM hi, i'm still using 3ds 5 now, but also have the 6th one here. after installing version 6 i noticed, that some of my old free plugins doens't work anymore.
so i tried to install 5 and 6 at the same time. but then i can't start any, because of a license error.
is there a way to get my old plugins working on version 6, or is it possible to have 5 & 6 working on the same machine ?

hmmm they both work for me on the one machine.
And no, none of your old plugins will work in Max6 is has been rebuilt...so you will need to get plugins specifically for max6.

As of running both 5 & 6 at the same time it 'should' work by creating to seprate directorys (i.e: C:\3dmax5, C:\3dmax6)

ya i've done this
maybe the way you install it is the key ?
i first deleted max5 and saved my works
then installed max 6 and noticed, that my plugins won't work
so i put max 5 back on my pc
may it work if i install 5 and then 6 ?

It should work just fine. I tried it on my laptop, and it did'nt give any problems.
First install Max5 (including all the license stuff etc., just make sure it works fine)
Then install Max6 (in a seperate directory, like darkdragon suggested)
It shouldn't give any problems.
