View Full Version : maya glass texturing...
reluctantone 02-10-2004, 07:08 AM i'm pretty new with maya and have recently learned how to model small simple objects. having said that, i'm having problems figuring out how to put a texture on it. i'm going for glass here but i cant figure it out for the life of me. i can come pretty close, but not what i want. i'll go into the rendering toolbar and chose phong 2 material and kinda play with it, but i was wondering if there is a better way.
please help me, thanks.

Glass is complex, and you should take a much different approach from flat glass to curved glass. But, figuring that you're doing some sort of oddball glass sculpture, this will probably help you:

thanx alot for the link, but i had kind of a problem. the tutorial was easy to follow, up until he came to making the glass shader itself. he just sort of put a bunch of impossible looking pics that i didn't understand. keep in mind i'm a real newbie at this whole maya thing. i've got a pretty good understanding of where things are, but i'm not too good with putting together shaders and materials.
i really appreciate the thought though. thanks
