Almost everytime I render something with Brazil, max crashes. This is so incredibly frustrated, because I want very badly to use Brazil for a car I am rendering, but it simply will not work.

It actually started rendering and then MAX pops up the well known "wanna recover" thing.

Please help, it renders from top to bottom, till it gets to the car's location, then it calculates ray tracing, and when it finishes it just crashes.

This is sooooooo frustrating, because I love Brazil, and planned on using it on my car since construction began.

Any solutions?

You really shouldn't be using the raytrace material with Brazil, they're not compatible.

Use the Brazil test material instead.

It IS the brazil test material, but it has raytracing on the reflection map.

I still shouldn't raytrace? What can I do in brazil then that is similar to raytrace?

You can just change the reflect color to any value above black. The closer to white you get the more reflecive. Easier than that and better to control is popping a falloff material into the reflection slot. The Brazil material then uses the falloff to control the reflection.

Check out Neil Blevin's site for some great tutorials:

Currently you crash, becasue as Matt said, Brazil doens't like to work with the raytraced material.
