Do they go together?
I just got a new graphics card [GF4 fx5600 256mb] and it also installed direct x 9, and now XSI is crashing when i orbit the camera, wont last more than 5 seconds

So im beginning to think its because of directx9, has anyone else had runtime errors? and I cant uninstall DX9 to test my theory

Also, when i reopen it, i can orbit no problem, but the red, blue, green [x,y,z] in the viewports are black, so is the.....wait, ill post a pic...

the black cube is highlighted and got a red lambert material on it, but it still turns out black in the shaded view, its also selected and you cant see the white lines. a render region does show it as red though.

PLEASE let there be someone out there that will show me the light! I dont want to have to return the card!

Cheers

no no no no
i suppose that you are with windows xp, and when you put your new video card in the pc, you did not reinstall the windows :)
now, go to display properties//setting//advanced//then to your geforce main panel and see if the card is detected right, does it say that the VGA is on AGP slot or it says it is on PCI slot.
i had the same problem and the driver detected my card on a PCI slot, you must put some new drivers for your mainboard, and then its gonna be okei :)
it has to show that the VGA is on a AGPx slot :)
good luck

Pimeto, you got me in the right direction!
it was set to AGP, but when i went into the BIOS, a load of the settings were way off the mark, now why didnt i think of that before?

Cheers guys
