There is a Render Tree example in the manual about this. You could start from there and experiment.

their is a shader available that fakes the sub surface light diffusion properties of the epidermis. But I havent got around to trying it out. It should be pretty easy to find if you want to try it out.

Open a Browser, browse to the .preset file, drag&drop it on the object.
