Just cruizing through Havok's site and watched some of their movies  and it hit me, is there a way to do accurate ragdoll physics simulations in C4D? Possibly with Dynamics and an IK setup? Cause if it is possible it sure would be cool.... thanks.

maybe fbx to..endorphin..then back again..saw someone post something on postforum...dunno...always disregard.

So that is it then...?

well yeah kinda...i mean endorphin is not really the way to go i wouldn't think.

the ragdoll stuff is all for guys designing for game engines really i would assume so programs like max would feature this kind of thing in there setup i presume...i think lightwave new version to be released will have some stuff in. maxon doesn't seem to go the game development market route so support for this kind of thing is limited i guess for that reason.

(that said there i no reason why as you mention dynamics module and mocca/xpresso setup couldn't simulate something like this i guess...and maybe someone more familiar with dynamics could answer something like this...certainly dynamics module is very powerful...whether you could control a setup like a rig without pulling your hair out is anybodies guess...would make a nice addition to dynamics module update though...a sort of dynamics auto ragdoll function.)

I dont have mocca But I have the Dynamics plugin
and you Can FORGET about any character based Dynamics
simulation with Cinema's Dynamics engine:rolleyes:

the best "ragdoll" simulation I have ever seen
is over here:

i mentioned endorphin above...didn't have link though..it does support fbx...so ideal with motionbuilderme thinks and c4d.

I made a rag-doll rig in Maya a while back that worked really well... Here's an early test. (http://www.thesecretmission.com/LJ/smack.mov) It used dynamic constraints, and a whole lot of parenting to get the character mesh to be driven by joints, and the joints to be driven by proxy geometry, and the proxy geometry to be driven (and constrained) by dynamics.

But wait, my story has a moral! Suddenly interested in recreating this in Cinema, because of Maya's inherent bugginess, I sat down with Cinema 8.2 for a while to see what I could come up with. Wheras the Maya rig was comprised of dozens of cubes and a sphere, the Cinema "rig" started to choke after only a handful of cubes were added into the simulation. I said "rig" because Cinema also lacks the dynamic constraints necessary to pull it off in the first place. My suggestion would be to buy that software that flingster mentioned, or to do it in Maya, and FBX your results to Cinema. Or render that one character in Maya, and composite into your Cinema renders.

Did you keep the file when you were messing aroundin c4d?
Cause if you did i was wondering if I could take a look at it, possible find a natvie solution within c4d. Thanks for everyones help, oh and endorphine rocks, hehe, got to play with it today...
