View Full Version : Photoshop 720x486 into after effects
keltuzar 02-08-2004, 08:41 PM Ok I have this really stupid problem and its killing me.
I have imported a pic of a wheel cog in photoshop. Now the photoshop image description is a ntsc d1 720x486 resolution.
When I import this into the same type of config. (720x486) into after effects the software scales it and makes it look oval shaped rather than the original round shape. Does any1 know what I am doing wrong?

that's because D1 is a nonsquare pixel format, in photoshop the wheel cog u made is in square pixels, so when imported, aftereffects interpret the footage to have a nonsquare pixels.
the solution is : when making footage in photoshop use the dimensions listed below.. then scale the result files to fit you comp in AE .
NTSC D1 4:3 >> use Suare size 648x480 or 720 x 534
NTSC D1 16:9 >> use Suare size 864x486
I guess you may need to try all of them.

Thanks achilles81,
I did another method to solve this problem,
Made another compositon i640x480 res. and then brought that comp. into the original and scaled the composition to proper size.
Kinda stupid but it did work, but hey yours is more professional and I am grateful for informing me.
Thankyou once again!
