View Full Version : Hardware vs Software rendering?
Dave Hackett 06-29-2002, 12:26 AM Since I'm getting into particles' deep now, what's the reason some things have to render through the software, and some things have to render through the hardware? Why can't it be all one way or the other?

because hardware particles usually goes thrue Post/compose anyway.,you better render it sepretly just because of that control,
its faster in hardware, it could go thrue the software render but maybe its not as fast, i dunnot know,.
havent tryed render particles in renderman so,.?

I was wondering that myself. Would having a cheapo video card make a difference in quality if I render particles in hardware?

I'm using a gforce 2 and it seems to work just fine. I have a new computer with a quadro 900xgl coming. It'll be interesting to see if there's any differance.
erwin1978, I asked the same question some time ago, and... can't remember if it was svenip or someone, said that you propably won't notice anykind of differences with different videocards, so although it sounds ugly... "hardware" (Ewww ;)), it shouldn't mean bad quality
