View Full Version : UV sets in maya?
I mapped all my uvs out in for my character and named them. So under uv sets in the texture editor I have map1(default) then head. When I apply the texture to the mesh, it uses the mapping on uv set map1 and not the head uv set I laid out and stitched all nice. How can I assign the textures to the correct uv set and not the default map1? I also have my characters body with about 5 uv sets and I am concerned about those too! Thanks for any help!

Well, I just figured something out! If I am assigning a texture to the shoes....everything works properly if I pick the shoes uv set, copy it into the map1 default set, then apply the texture. Then I can pick the pants uv set, copy them into the map1 uv set and assign a pants texture. This works but I dont think it should be this complicated. Anybody have better ideas?

to make sure your uv sets go to the right file, just create free standing file nodes and load in the various textures you want. then with your overall mesh selected, open the uv-centric linking relationship editor and link the appropriate uvs up to the appropriate texture files.
Or, if that proves problematic go ahead and select all the faces in question and assign a file texture to the faces. This will make sure they show up in the relationship editor when you select the mesh and open the relationship editor. Then make appropriate links.
