Regarding the fact that this is a maya forum, I don't think very much users are used to Max, so the "auto back" function doesn't say too many people anything. I think you really need to explain what you mean...

Autosave every few minutes? No, maya doesn't have this - try to use AutoSave Mel. You could find it here:

I don't think Maya crashes enough to need an Autobak feature. :applause:

yeah maya has something similar to max's autoback feature. Each time maya crashes it records the last thing that you were working on before closing, but for the life of me I can't remember where the hell the file is kept, I think it is in the bin folder, but it does exist I have used it before. If someone knows this please tell all.

actually i want to recover a file that i had before maya crashed. In 3ds max if you working on a file and didnt save it before 3ds max crashed then all you had to do is go to autoback folder and recover it there. I was just wondering if maya had that feature.
+Trambott+ the files goes here
x:/Documents and Settings/*user*/Local Settings/Temp
but not every crash do a backup
better save your work :)

:D Maya crashes as often as Max, I'd say, and for all the wrong reasons.

I totally agree with swag on that one, it can be a pain when software autosaves (esp if it's a big scene) while your in the middle of an important operation. I recall MAX crashing a lot and it would attempt to save a temp backup scene that one could never seem to open, nice feature that one.:surprised
