View Full Version : clay material trouble..
thedaemon 06-28-2002, 07:34 PM :scream: I am having a real hard time getting a nice clay material (I dont claim to no how to texture/set up shaders). I was looking to get a nice hand sculpted clay look. Anyone have any shader settings they would like to share? :bounce:

Ok, I'm just gonna give a general idea of what I think, and it's very possible I'm wrong! =) I would say first to make the material look right as far as specularity, glossiness etc. This will be to your own taste as I don't have any clay here to look at. Next, I would say you want to add a little noise map or something proceedural to the bump slot to give it the look as if it has been handled by human hands. If you are making a soft bodied object, you may want to use "soft selection" when you model to add a "molded" feel to the piece. Hope that helped, at least a little bit!:)

Sorry man, that's a pretty specific request. Just gave you the general idea. I would say just make a few primitive objects, and a few varieties of your material and figure it out for yourself, if you wait here for a specific answer it may never come. Good luck with your project!
