And i don't mean your New Years one ;)

I am tempted in buying a 19" TFT for £400 but concerned about resolution screen size. :hmm:

1600x1200 is barely enough for me, im thinking of buying an iiyama vision master pro 454 to accompany my NEC VR19 and pushing it up to 1600x1200+2048x1526..

I work fine with 1024x768. 19 Inch Dell Monitor.

I know it's just a question of interest. But many people frown upon such things. But at the end of the day, it doesn't restrict me from being an artist and there's no issue.

MAN!!!!!

<turning really green with envy>
I'm on a G4Powerbook.... which means 1152X768.

Whenever I do AE or FCP stuff I add a second monitor (19")... but Video editing is done in front of a desk. 3D belongs in front of the TV with a WACOM on my right and a pina colada on my left!!!!

Most CRT 19 inch do, mine does and it was one of the first on the market, hard to think I spent almost as much on this monitor as I did on the rest of my newer system. the resolutions a little too small in menus and such for my liking, and things perfom a little too slowly in some areas (like maya for one) Granted thats also because my other monitor is a 1024x768 so I stick to a 1600x1200 for my main monitor.

1024x768 here, but I wish I could go to 1280x1024 but my 15" LCD won't go up there., and I don't have money for a new monitor.

Monitor 1: Optiquest 21" - 1600x1200
Monitor 2: Dell 17" - 1280x1024

Dual monitors are fun :P

(OT: anyone know how to take screenshots on dual monitors where the resolutions are different on each? Print screen doesn't work...feel free to PM so it doesn't end up cluttering the thread :))

meh its still on topic I'd say, what graphics card are you using, both my matrox and my ATI allow me to take a screenshot using printscreen. Theres a blig black bar in the are on the smaller screen but all works fine for me.

I don't know why i don't know this but is there a standard resolution to work in. For example some of my resolutions when applied make the screen distorted and stretched. So what are these resolutions all about?

wide screen displays, certain laptops etc. to prevent ditortion all you need do is make sure your resolution is 4:3

1900x1200 is one I see a lot of people with large monitors using nowadays and its not for regular monitors, its a wide aspect

1280 x 1024 on a 19" Dell monitor. Works well under most circumstances.

Nvidia GeForce FX 5900 running 1280 by 960 on a 19" taxan ergovision crt monitor

I'm thinking of getting a 21" soon, this 19" is about 5 years old and the picture is getting a little fuzzy on some refresh rates

GeForce 2 -> Rather blurry old ViewSonic 17", 1152x864 px resolution @ 70 Hz refresh rate. Yeah, it is painful - but I've managed to get some free space for the viewport by putting lots of stuff in the rightclick menu instead of toolbars.

Looks like this (Actual size! - uh, not really, but it feel like it...)

1400 x 1050 on a 15" Vaio Notebook. NOt enough i believe but also not enough money in my pocket.

Does anybody know if these high resolution 15" notebook displays are sold on a separate stand like normal 15" monitors! I like the size and the resolution very much also it may apear very small to many people.

So if anybody knows a link to a product plz post it.

1600x1200 on a 20.1 LCD as primary display and
1280x1024 on a 17 LCD as secondary

with standard scheme I just use the second monitor for rendering pourpose, but, in modelling and animation mode, my second monitor is full of toolbar(modelling tools, MS toolbar, a big f-curve version, ecc. ecc.)

IMO it's better to have 2 x 1280x1024(quite cheap) instead of 1 1600x1200

I've tested also a 3 screen version(3 x 1280x1024), but, right now, it's only a funny way to test the graphic card possibility, nothing more...........

I don't know why, but it seems little monitor with high resolution are only manufactured on laptop.

;)

Remember that a good 17 LCD will drive 1280x1024 and with slim edge you don't have too much space occupied; unfortunatelly, to have 1600x1200 you should buy a bigger version

1600x1200 all the way....photos etc. just look amazing. It's a laptop screen, I never see ghosting, it has a killer anti-glare coating of some sort on it, and it's bright as day. (15" on my Toshiba Satellite 5220)

The one problem I have is I'll render an image, upload it and get a bunch of replies saying that it's too dark or that they can't see anything - the contrast and clarity on LCD's is so much better than most CRT's.

CRT colors/brightness are more reliable than LCD's, btw I'm a LCD fans, but, I've spent some hours in adjusting my primary LCD, and it's really an High Quality screen(with 5 color screen adj, and other options in normal lcd are not present)

read a thread in another forum on here and they were mentioning this was a good res as limited distortion.

originally had it set to 1600x1200 but refresh rate was s**t and giving me headaches...definitely gonna invest in a new crt 21 inch me thinks...got a 17inch knocking about but not hooked it up as just saw this current setup as temporary! heh heh.

My main computer I have two LCD monitors running at 1600 x 1200 and 1600 x 1024, no need to hide any of those palletes and managers. I quite often montage all my reference photos together for a project and have this open in the picture viewer docked on the right hand screen, so everything I need is on the two monitor in front of me no need to glance back and forth all the time, it really helps.

I have been working on LCD screens for about four years now, and I find it really difficult to even sit in front of a CRT, it just hurts my eyes I don't now if it's the redraw or the slightly soft image but I find it uncomfortable. Also I have not owned a CRT monitor that did not degrade in quality after a couple years of constant use, that has not happened with my LCD monitors they are all as good as new, super bright and super sharp. I prefer the rich colours of an LCD screen also, and the spare desk space is a real bonus.

Dell Precision Laptop screen at 1600x1200 on Nvidia quadro2go 32MB. Screen resolution is fine, but the GFX card could be better and the colors are not what you get on a regular flatscreen or CRT.
