"Softimage" has a function to optimize the same shader......
which I really want maya do that too........
After I import and import things into my scene....many many same shader appear that I need to reassign again...any script or plugin or method to optimize them?

not too sure on optimising a shader myself but there is a delete unused nodes in the hypershade menu which goes some way to cleaning up the scene of any unused textures. careful tho, if you do this and want to keep hold of a texture whilst not having it on a surface it will delete it!
