View Full Version : where to begin?
fbitonti 02-03-2004, 09:18 PM I am a graphic design student who has a moderate amount of experiance writng c++. I am looking to do some experimentation with creating my own shaders and plugins for lightwave. However, I don't know where to begin my research. I have done some searching on the internet but I havent found anything helpfull. If some one could point me in the right direction it would be greatly apprecated.

How good is your math? From my understanding, a firm basis in calculus and differential equations is what you need for writing a renderer. And I suppose from there, experiment with something you personally might use or find useful.
step 1.
read the docs
http://www.newtek.com/products/lightwave/downloads/index.html
im sure they will be helpful
step 2.
ask questions when you need to.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/lw-plugin/
people from the company post there.
