Hello and good morning everybody!

Its 8 am and after 2 days and nights of continous working i finallly managed to get this little picture done!! Arrr. I started this model ages ago, maybe 2 years and decided it would be a nice character for the coming expose :).

Even if my zip stays rotting on that ftp i finally got something done!! This is my first post ever in this section of cgtalk - normally i only start projects but never end them :)

So thats jolly good, im pretty lightheaded now, need sleep but gotta go to work in a few hours. NOO! The pixie is pretty much inspired by the awesome Brian Froud, modelled in max ( i did some detailingwork in zbrush) and textured in ps. Its not as perfect as i liked it to be in places but the time is up today! so - thats all, Im dead. Bye.

seb :D

ps, thanks for encouragement during my work marathon and advice especially to ambient, subdivme, wiro and the sheep!

scene is great, but something bothers me on those textures. While the clothes and all are sharp, but the mushroom looks so soft, abit blurred. I don't know if this mentioned to be that way, but they just don't fit together somehow for my oppinion. The difference strikes my eyes too much.

Outstanding work, really like the mood and particularly love his expression. :applause:

Like it! It's the kind of thing that I'd really want to animate. I reckon that's the sign of a great model, one where you can imagine it coming alive from just one still picture! Looks mischievous, like it would go out of its way to pester you.

Can you give any details on where it lives/what it does?

Those shoes are brilliant.

Hey Sheb, long time no see :)

It's looking very good, you've managed to put a lot of character into the picture. The only remark I have is that his left hand doesn't look properly planted. I don't know whether this is a pose or a render issue, it doesn't look like it's in a natural position on the trunk.

Jonas

Looks absolutely great Sheb!

And it will look even better on paper in Expose2! ;)

Great interpretation of Brian Froud's illustration work. I'm a big fan of his work. The color and light is very much how he might have painted it.

thats a really nice piece of work...only thing is that i find the skin of the creature far less detailed in contrast to the enviroment, aprt from that its all good.

It will be ashame if something this beautiful and original doesn't make it into the new Expose. Nice job. Only crit I have is maybe boost up the lighting in the background...seems a bit flat to me. The character is outstanding.

Great style. I love the cloth texture, the hat is awesome. great work on the hands as well. The image has great depth to it, but the mushroom seems sorta flat compared to the rest, the tree a little bit too.

Ohh! Thanks all for the overwhelming positive feedback!! That really made the whole weekend worth it and kept me alive at work yesterday (didnt work on BW1 btw, i came after so its bw2 for me).

Also seems like most old 3d friends found my thread, nice to see you all again!! (ja besonders euch alte muenchner heh :) )

A special thanks to Sceme because I wouldnt have realized that i accidentally blurred the whole background (including the already dof'ed mushes) Thanks! Yes MORE sleep is better!

A college will do a bit of animation on the little guy so ill keep you posted how that all goes :)

Thanks again all,

seb

This is really beautiful work on all levels.

Perhaps the one area that could use a little more creativity is on the lighting -- the character seems a little evenly and brightly bathed in warm light to apparently be sitting in such a misty, dark looking forest.

Otherwise, amazing!

My only bit of critique would be that the color pallette seems very similiar throughout. Adding some highlights to the character might pop it from the background.
