View Full Version : easy rigging for still pictures: do you do it too?
ninoaniceto 02-02-2004, 07:40 AM does anyone else here rig with just the bones and wieghs if they're not goign to animate a character?
i've only just sarted rigging and i know im only going to be doing still pictures (for now) so i dont really use IK's and controlers.
anyone else do the same?

if you ˇwant to pose characters its better to do a simple rig than to model the pose. so yeah... lots of pople do that, saves time if you are only doing stills.
I do lots of stills too, but i like having my characters with some rig that will let me play with them later ;)

I was recently experimenting with rigs that do not require weight painting. It's good if you have to do some changes to the model.
but you do it in maya right...i believe maya has some very friendly skin

It's friendly enough, only painting weights takes a lot of time. It sometimes is faster to add few more bones in right places and don't worry too much about weights.
It's been a while since I used Max, but I remember envelopes... :hmm:

what do you have against envelopes, eh?:shrug: i dont rigging in maya once and it was pretty good. then i tried max and i hated it. but once i found out about envelopes...:bounce:
