by black lines do you mean the one down the center? If so it merely looks as if your verts aren't merged in the center and its actually two separate edges so it can't actually smooth those normals. Try changing to verts selecting that area and merging with a very low tolerance.

Yeah it's kinda tricky to figure out the issue unless you show us your control cage. Make sure all your normals are pointing the right way too.

Polygons>>Normals>>Set to face

this will clear up the nasty blackness you have.

Then you can do a soften harden to smooth it out nice again :)
