View Full Version : I Always Knew I Could Do The Impossible...

Got this error in Layout...

http://www.insaint.com/images/Error.jpg

It seems Layout doesn't like converting Luxigons on more than one object selected at a time.

More important, I thought the error was priceless and thought I'd share. Anyone else able to get something like this? Will LW8 have even better errors for the Impossible?

Wow, that looks like a beta error alert that was left in by accident. Not many project managers would find it very funny that this made it to final release, if they were even patient enough to allow the developers a little fun to put it in there during alpha.

Assuming it's real, that is...:)

I guarentee it is a real error message that I got.

I'm running 7.5c. I selected a couple of objects with Luxigons that I needed to convert. Then I tried to convert them, and *poof* there it was [okay, there were over 100 luxogons on each of the objects I was trying to convert...].

I hope the project managers wouldn't be too miffed about the error, Layout didn't crash even in attempting the impossible.

Now, THAT is some software!

reminds me of the haiku error messages in the BeOS www browser.

reminds me of the after effects ( 5 I think) render status, things like:

'an hour or so', and 'about a day'

Too funny! I'm going to try to duplicate this.

Meanwhile you should go out and get yourself a lottery ticket. It's a sign!;)

I once got one during a Strata 3d render(anybody ever use that 3d app?) that read:

Your rendering is no more. Whompf!

For real.

In LightWave 5.0 for the Amiga, Modeler would sometimes pop up the error message "I'm melting! MELTING!!" just before the system gurued :)

How did you all suddenly find ways of screwing up Lightwave and getting dodgy messages???

Mucho amusing though! :)

That's why LW always advertise the line "With Lightwave, anything is possible". Including the impossible. :)

How's Star Wreck coming, anyway?

It will be out in next June at earliest.

Actually release dates are a bit of a joke in Wreck team since originally it was announced, that it'd be out at Fall 2000. Or possibly a bit earlier :D

Awfully off-topic, sorry for that.

I reckon there is a lightwave developer in some cubicle at newtek yelling "Someone's found it!!!".

Well...
I can confirm the error.
Just created two tubes with lots of polys and tried it. Then tried it with just 3 'std' boxes - get the same error.
It is definitely related to having multiple objects selected when you run 'convert luxigons' in layout.

Both objects where multi-layered items with defualt 'add luxigon' settings applied. 100% repeatable error.

Make sure you send it into Newtek directly. I'm going to look for this one when Lightwave 8 comes out.

Or 0xFACEF00D

Those sound like the kind of weird 32-bit data sprayed into memory by debugging programs, like the old Mungwall on the Amiga.
