Hola all,

This is the first real attempt I've made at digital 'painting'. I see all this beautiful artwork that stems from a basic sketch or doodle that is then worked into amazing art. I figured I'd doodle a little and lay out some shapes and see what I come up with and then see how much I could 'polish' it up. I think it's coming pretty nicely. First is the goofy skull, then a larger detail shot...Followed by the original doodle I started with. I have a lot of work to do on it still, but I'm having a blast. It's fairly biomechish with some giger influence. Comments?

Really nice!
But I think the black shadows and white highlights take away from the great texture.
I'd use darker and brighter versions of the colors instead of black and white (or dodge and burn)
Even for the teeth btw. That's where the use of black bothers me most.

And the eye areas seem too muddy. Did you smudge there?
I'd give the viewer something sharp there ...
at least for me it's unsettling to look at those areas.

Btw ... if you want the gigerish look you can still take away saturation from the whole piece later.
But I wouldn't do that ... I think the colors will work nicely that saturated.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll have to play with it some more. I think the white/black in the teeth are too pure. It's really new to me working in this fashion. Most of my art is very exact, pen and ink type stuff. This is quite a departure. I did use smudge, blur, dodge and burn throughout the entire piece. I'll try and clean it up a bit.
