I think you're getting Flame and Fire confused there....

Fire and Smoke are Discreet's editing systems...

Flame, Flint and Inferno (often collectively refered to as FFI) are all compositing packages running on dedicated SGI..

As much as I feel that Beaker is going to smack me down for this one, take a look at this thread (http://www.vfxtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=762) (over at VFXTalk.com) - there are a couple of people over there who use or have used FFI on a regular basis...

This thread (http://www.vfxtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1719) also has sone details about the hardware that they run on....

Also, my understand is that Flint is a single-processor version of Flame, but I may be wrong there...

Awww, you're so kind ;)

I made a resolution a while ago to only post links to VFXTalk.com (http://www.vfxtalk.com) either when it was actually pertinent information that I was passing across (as above) or when I'm blatantly (http://www.vfxtalk.com) taking (http://www.vfxtalk.com) the (http://www.vfxtalk.com) piss (http://www.vfxtalk.com)

;) :p
