Hi guys,

Just wanted to show everyone how my sporty dream car in cyberspace is coming along :) The car was modeled mainly using hyperNURBS. Not the most creative idea I know, but it's a good modeling exercise. Not much else to say...except bring the critiques!

cheers,
Mike Xue

Nice modeling. I think the eding might ned some more definition, but that is being picky. Good work.

Thanks for the critique ;) What was it you were saying that needs more definition? I couldn't make out the sentence.

trying to model a boat using Hypernurbs...

Blows me away when people can use them to create work like that :D

Sorry about that, my brain and hands are not talking to eachother again.

Right, where the window screen meets the chassis or where parts of the body meet the headlights, there is often a raised surface at the join (sometimes seperate object). It helps create the small details

Qareth: I'm sorry but I'm still not following you on the raised surface part. I'm looking over some reference pics of the M3 and I don't see any of the raised surfaces you were talking about. If you could show some examples...

Grey: Thanks. This is actually the 4th car I've modeled in Cinema 4D. I draw my inspiration from The Chevy Bel Air tutorial over at 7th chamber (http://www.7thchamber.com) Also, I can say the same about the head you modeled in an earlier thread ;)

Stu: Thanks. There is no rubber around the windshield yet. I'll post up a pic when I get to it. Right now I'm stuck on texturing the head and tail lights. If anyone could clue me in on how to texture these parts it would be great.

cheers,
Mike Xue

Hehe. J. Carlsonīs Chevy has been a source of inspiration for many of us...

Awesome work!

IMHO you could add some thickness into those front panels surrounding the headlights. Also the front grill seems to stick a little into the bumper.

For texturing those lights try this:

Keep up the good work!

Super. Very nice model. I did a 1930 car following a tutorial that Carlson did. The tut is in Adam Watkins' book Cinema 4D Handbook.

Great job!

Thanks for the link TKay! My kind of site  It has certainly cleared up a few things. I'll post up some updates when I get chance.

Hi,

I think the modeling is great, now you should improve the lighting and rendering, maybe aim at a photorealistic result.

I think it's just great. And while I know it's kind of asking to see your underwear collection, is there any way we coul get a gander at the base model wire mesh? I'm presuming you've got some nurbs in there.

Sorry for the tardy reply. I've been caught between work and class lately:scream: . Here is a snapshot of the wireframe that you asked for, Caravaggio. Haven't really had any chance to play around with it this week. I'm stuck on the texturing part, mostly on the headlights. I am just horrible at texturing and I've still got a long way to go.
