I have recently purchased the new star wars game Jedi Academy and was wondering if this software progam could be used to make my own charachters. I know that you can do it but is this the software to use to do this kind of a thing is all i want to know.

It all depends what format the characters are in. The above quote may only be partially right. In many games such as Quake you have complete ability to alter meshes and such, but with Jedi Academy (as far as I know) has it's own skeletal based system, which means the characters skeletons were programed before compiling. It may not just be as simple as dumping a mesh into a directory and tinkering with a .dll. If you are to overwrite an existing mesh, that does not corraspond with the orignal pre programed skeletal system, there maybe be issues. As far as a plugin, check to see what format the game uses, however the character data may be compiled into a .dll . It's a loaded question really...

You can probably make a base textured mesh in max then will have to use 3rd party tools to make it work for this engine itself.... but in short yes this is what you would use...ne prog that exports .3ds can probably work but MAX usually has exporters directly for many games...or use 3rd party software to convert .3ds to whatever
