That looks really cool..can i just suggest one thing though, i was thinking it would look a little more realistic if the meteor would carve its way through the buildings just a little before erupting into the explosive impact. I mean it seems to be coming in real fast and at a pretty sharp angle so would probably cause real devastation for a good half mile /mile wutever before the big bang...i luv this kinda stuff .

Good work!
Nice composition man!
IMO the Meteorite before hit the ground it seems way to bright!
Well done after all!

Very well done, looks awesome - One thing: the background looks too much like a bitmap. Bothers me somehow...

good work ! But i think the tempo is a bit fast, make it slower could be better. Cheers:beer:

great job! just a couple of things
1. the smoke it pretty thick and it stays thick. should some of the smoke tril fade away?
2 i also think the thickness of the smoke trail makes it seem out of place, since it feel less realistic. maybe you should add some motion blur?
3. also, once the explosion occurs, the smoke trail disappears immediately.

thanks for your replies guys :)
i will get to work adjusting some of the things you suggested!
dualdirtman: yeah it is swansea, wales! am studying computer animation there, at swansea institute.
thanks again guys..

DraconisXII: i filmed the background plate and then camera tracked it using boujou, then used maya's fluid dynamics to create the meteorite, explosion and shockwave. Then composited each layer together in shake. The glows and haze etc was all done in shake. The thermal mode was created with photoshop(batch action) as i couldnt get the thermal effect i wanted with shake.
