View Full Version : Viewport problems.. is it a bug?
finchy 01-27-2004, 02:45 PM I'm having problems when i set a bitmap as my viewport background. I think i set it up ok, it dosn't move when i pan but for some reason it will suddenly skew or stretch a little why is this happening, especialy when I expand perspective view then return to multi view they are all stretched..... using max 6. is it a bug or am i doing something wrong? thanks! Finchy.

It sounds like you're zooming the camera, instead of moving it.

nope theres no cameras in the scene. just starting to model. they only get stretched once. it doesn't happen again, but they remain stretched. any more ideas? thanks.

There's always a camera in the scene... IE, the default perspective viewport is a virtual camera, complete with focal length.

in the case you use openGL or Direct3d try out the software z-buffer.. maybe its only a drawing problem. you can also play with the texture quality and see if its connected to this. you can adjust the quality in the configurations for the viewport driver.

I think it's a bug in Max. That's why I prefer to use planes when setting up blueprints. If you still want to use the Viewport Background thing, press Alt-Shift-Ctrl-B when it's gets skewed

Ok heres some screenshots of the problem, but i have noticed, if i use say, the front viewport then that image will be stretched, but if i use the left then that one is stretched? heres the screenshots first one is normal and the second is stretched, don't mension the bad character draw in the background!!! lol... the box is to show how off the two images become when one is stretched.
