Hi,

I am trying to convert Max file to Maya by exporting obj and fbx but I am having problem getting the procedual textures (i.e. ramp, noise, etc...) out of it.

I found a function to bake those textures in to a map but that's a lot of work for what I'm trying to do. not to mention, the ramp has animation!

Does anybody know how to make this possible??

Thanks,

Most likely impossible. Very different shaders in each app. You might try one of the commercial file translators, but it sounds highly doubtful.

I would either re-create the shaders in Maya, or bake them into bitmaps using Render To Texture in max.

I experienced something similar going from the old 3D Studio (DOS) into max when it first came out (1996). Only one of the procedurals translated, all the others had to be re-created from scratch. I think you'll still have the same problems unfortunately. Good luck!
