hi, im just wondering what process people go through when working with video that they wish to resize (ie: for making splitscreen, or smaller than full size pieces of footage) and combining it with standard full resolution video.

I have previously done some title sequences (with resized video) in after effects, and then tried to place it into premiere.
But the problem i encounter is when it comes to de-interlacing the footage (after exporting). At that point, the parts which have resized pieces of video come out quite jagged, and somewhat flickery..

this is also the case with still images etc, that are at full resolution, but once again appear jagged after de-interlacing.
I guess thats because a still image is not interlaced, but in that case how am I able to get a good result since it is only a couple of shots that are not interlaced, while the rest is interlaced?

thanks for any advice :)

I dont know how you do i in After Effects, but in Combustion you would deinterlace the footage (by setting the field order in the footage settings) then resize, then re-introduce the fields when rendering. In after effects can you set the field orders on all the clips as you import maybe?

well i found an "interpret footage" option which allows setting the field order to upper, lower, or off. So i think that might be the go.
thanks chris!

Here's probably all the information you could ever want.

Just make sure you deinterlace your frames/fields before you move, resize, or apply effects to your footage.
