OK, if I am in figure mode in CS3 and if I select the COM (diamond-shape), should I be able to move it around yet keep the biped stationary? I need to move my COM on my biped and when I move it, it moves the whole Biped, I just need to move the COM. Am I doing something wrong or is it not possible to move the COM at all?

Thanks in advance.

I don't have CS auth'd on this computer at the moment, but recalling from memory try turning on the rubber band mode, I believe that allows you to move the COM without moving the whole character.

Check tutorial 4 "Creating the Illusion of Weight" for a couple of examples that will be sure to clear up your problems...

Doobeh...

okay. COM should not be touched in figure mode, figure mode is only to edit you biped ,(change the shape and sizes of limbs) your center of mass will always move the body when you move it, if you want your feet to be stationary youll need to lock them. read the help files or the manual for more help. i think maxhelp.com has good basic tut.
to lock your feet use the keyframes under the IK rollout, select the foot and you can create 3 types of different keyframes. play around with it :)

Doobeh, thanks. The rubberband option worked in figure mode. Heh I should have thought about that since I used rubberban before on the limbs in figure mode. :)

And that "Creating the Illusion of Weight" part in tutorial 4 was helpful, I thought I read that tut before but I must have skipped it..
