Not bad! There are a few things that need attention, but overall I think you are off to a good start. The front looks very good, the rear near the wheel arch needs some fixin. It looks a little wavy, you may want to try to reduce the polycount in that area. The center of the front looks like the "point" of the nose doesn't line up-although that could just be the angle you have rendered it from. Last thing, add the seams, it's hard to crit without seeing how smooth the mesh is without seams. Great start!

here's another. added the seams on the door, made some creases and straightened the panels. If anyone wants to reply that would be great!

Tight modeling Jake, getting better for sure. I think the front of the hood scoop, could be a little crisper, maybe a small chamfer or add a loop. Keep going!

I added some detail to the hood and I am currently experimenting with the paint job. I am using HDRI in the reflection channel and falloff maps in the diffuse. I tried to get a metallic look by putting noise into the spec channel but I think it might be to subtle to see. Built and Rendered in 3dsmax.
Any tricks on a material would be helpful.

OK, here's a small update. This focuses on the rear taillight panel area. Did some 'make planar' work and added edge loops and extrusions to the panel. I really do have to work for a living, so the updates are slow and small!

how did you create the rims for your car. Would you mind making a quick tutorial on that. By the way your car looks great. Also how did you create the seams in the hood and door?
Thanks man

The rims are done in three peices. The spoke was made from a 10 sided poly then I copied and shaped the edges, a meshsmooth mod was applied later. The inner and outer hoop was done with a simple lathe.
The seams were done by selecting edge loops then chamfered to create the seam width. the chamfered polys were then extruded down by their local normal to get the depth. I deleted the poly after to get the separate elements.
hope this helps. (I would like to make a tut but I don't think I'll have the time.)

nice man thanks so are the pieces just aligned together or welded? Sorry for the questions.

The pieces are separate, not welded together. (The wheels are a three piece design in real life.) Also, The small bolts around the hoop were arrayed and then collapsed into a single object.

Just playing around with some background ideas. Totally rough draft stuff so let me know what you think.

My students had some questions on how to create seams for a car. Here are some quick steps to make them without having to detach the mesh elements. 3ds max was used for the tutorial.

Not a big update but I am making progress, however slowly. Here I added the rear hatch, glass, and molding.

Here is an update. Been slacking lately, but I managed to tackle the windows and trim. The trim needs alot of work still but fire away with CC...

That's a really clean model. Like me, you have the car sitting in front of you on the driveway so I bet you spot even the tiniest flaw in the model - this is looking good.
