View Full Version : Quad import?!

Hi,

was just wondering about something. Whenever we import here another object from Mirai, Lightwave or Maya into MAX (via deep exploration or Okino, it doesn't matter) final result in MAX is always tri's. We deal with geometry via wavefront files (obj) so we are sure that it supports quads. I understand that top level geometry primitive in MAX is tri, but is it possible at all to somehow import it as quads?

Thanks.

Certainly is.. just go along to http://www.habware.at/duck3.htm and download the free Obj2Max and Max2Obj plugins.. they also do a plugin fot handling .dxf's with quads. :)

OBJ's should come in as Quads... try using this importer (works for me)

OBJ2MAX (http://www.habware.at/max4/obj2max4.zip)

thanks.

I've found it already, but thanks anyways. It works in a slightly weird way when dealing with Mirai. first open up in deep Exploration, resave it. Then you can import it in MAX. You cannot directly import it in MAX from Mirai via obj. You must first resave it in deep Exploration.

Thanks.

Dominik - I never had any trouble importing Mirai .obj's directly with the plugin. What sort of errors are you getting?

EDIT: Never mind. I just read your other post in the Modeling forum:)
