CGTalk - newbie question

I'm trying to combine 3 small avis to one film...but I have a problem

first I created a new project, then I imported my avi files, after that I created a new composition
then I drag & drop my avis into the composition window

but if I render now my film it's always black and I dont see anything

you may not defined start and end of every layer. check out tutorials came with AF
