View Full Version : Going insane
f3rry 01-22-2004, 10:24 PM Hi all...
I was walking down the street today and I saw a guy walking toward me holding a coffee cup....
Being animating all day, I was thinking: "This person was animated really bad. The IK on the hand holding the cup only animated along 1 axis, no suttle real life movement, not even to the right or left. The animator must be lazy."
HELPPPPPP!!!!!!! I'm going insane.... I start rejecting real life fact........
One time an old lady must've thought I was a freak coz I kept staring at her thinking: "Her face has a really interesting edge loop with those wrinkles all over her face.. I wonder where that one connected to....... Or that wrinkle... Hmmm.... it's not symmetrical"
Have a good day guys

I had that when i just started to learn texturing - i would look at buildings and think - 'ooh thats really badly textured' - or - 'i wonder if bodypaint was used to paint birdshit on that car!'

Funny. Happens to me when I drink to much, I seriously start thinking that everything is 3D, I consider the textures of some gilrs face and some chicks are really well modelled! :)
Anyway, I can relate..

Since I am relatively new to 3d and to C4d, I am busy doing the audi tut on c4dportal.
My problem is that I am probably going to crash my car on the highway soon.
There I am happily driving along only to realise that I have been gawking at the body lines of a car for 500 meters instead of keeping my eyes on the road
So yeah I can relate too

Familiar feeling. Just the other day, I caught myself thinking that a friend's coat wasn't UV Mapped properly.
If this starts to occur when I look at people's faces, I must seek help - as there's the dreadful possibility that I get the urge to remap them! :scream::bounce:

on a cinema 4d forum, we had a funthread collecting thing that show you that you work too much with c4d. here they are:
- every time you see your boss you are reminded on your first trialsa in human modelling
- you think the New Beetle is too smoothed by the HyperNURBS
- if someone asks you if you would like to have a COFFEE or a Cappuccino, you answer "no i would like a xpresso"
- you dont like the DOF your glasses produce :)
- you are trying to put a 100% transparent material on your mother-in-law
- you suspect your wife to have an affair with otto
- if your child paints you a sweet little picture in the school, you tell him that he/she really has to use antialiasing
- you like every woman who paints her nails with danel or nukei
- you think that god is the best modeller, animator and texturer ever
- right after that you aks yourself how long he had to render all that crap :)
- you love soft-ice with bhoditNUT flavour
- you put a gel-tag on your hair every morning
- the walls in your house do have GI artifacts
- everything in your house seems to use dirtyNUTS really often, especially the dishes
- you try to get out that that unevenness in your girlfriend's legs with your polytools
- you ask yourself where they left the phong-tag on a soccer ball
- you think pregnant woman are all on a WIP-project

Don't worry you are not going insane, this is a perfectly normal sideeffect with 3D.
Infact all I see now is a constant wireframe mesh of the entire world. Just like how neo see's code, I see mesh.
On some occasions, I can even see badly positioned triangles :surprised

I like this one....... Oh, and the Gel Tag...... Aaaaaaargh........ So true. And Click and drag your clothes from the hanger like changing material on an object..... LOL.......... I cut a cheese once and I thoght, " This cutting tool must be named after the Knife tool in any 3D app"
AAaaaaaaaarrgghh..............................
