Wardile 01-22-2004, 11:34 AM PLease help me out.
What is shaders and where can i learn how to make em.
If i understand right, it's a piece of code you make to tell the renderer what to render.
A more advance shader than blin phong and x-ray.
How do i create my own shaders, gime a website or advise... please i need to know or my haert will shatter as all my dreams do :(

Do you have a specific software you want to write the shaders for?
For RenderMan shaders, the RenderMan Academy (http://www.rendermanacademy.com/) would be a good place to start, Rendermania (http://www.rendermania.com/) and theRenderMan repository (http://www.renderman.org/RMR/) are very useful too. nVidia's documentation for cg contains a good document on surface reflection models (http://cvs1.nvidia.com/DEMOS/OpenGL/src/cg_lightmodel/Surface%20Reflection%20Models.doc)
I don't know about web sites for Mental Ray, but I have seen books about programming Mental Ray.

Um shaders forr brazil (3dsmax)
Did Brazil ship with some documentation? You may also try the web site of Splutterfish. I read there that Brazil supposedly supports programmable shaders, but I don't own it.
If you're not fixed to Brazil, there are alternatives for 3ds max, I once used MaxShade to write custom shaders.
