texture for a Whip

Paint a bump map?

I must be missing something, this looks extremely simple. Looks to me like a simple braid, with some fine pore detail.

yeah...i was probably being lazy about that...

anyway i´ve already got the texture on the whip, the problem now is the displacement map...i dunno how i will make one to make that kind of form...its really intriguing(i´m not talking about bump, but displacement, on the whips "edges"(dunno if it is the correct word) )
