Hiya.

I'm sure I saw someone else mention this before, but I can't track it down. Sorry if this was already answered and whatnot.

Is there, or will there be, a plugin that can convert 3DS MAX 4 scenes...with animation...and keep everything intact? I don't care about materials and whatnot (I can do that with BP and C4DXL), but animation is key. I do not like the core 3DS MAX renderer, and I can't use my 2 licenses of Mental Ray (for Softimage|3D / XSI), dang it! :thumbsdow I love C4D's renderer!

Any help? Any hope? Any thing?

sorry no help here but there is hope, there is some interest and work I guess being done on an export import of the FBX format allowing C4D to import models lighting and animation all in one format, but I don't know if max will support this anytime soon.

what about transferring the animation data out via MoCap files?

That may be to heavy a workload, because you'd still have to build the bone structures...

Well, I figured it was worth a try. Too bad though. :( Maybe in XL8 ...

I think the big problem here is that the MAX format is popriotory. so getting the info needed to create the conversion plug-in is difficult.

I had understood that 3DSmacks could export animation data into a 3DS file...?
